"In Ireland there is a great Lyons Tea vs Barry's Tea debate but once you move across this side of the water you forget about all of that. It doesn't matter what type of tea it is as long as it's not from here."Curious, considering my favorite brand of tea was as the time Lipton black tea. I had to put his word to the test.I purchased both a box of Lyons Gold Blend and Barry's Tea Gold Blend and had them simultaneously delivered. My consensus after brewing a cup of both is I'm fine with either Barry's Tea or Lyons Tea as long as I don't have to drink another cup of Lipton ever. The pure richness of the tea is something I've never had before in a black tea. The aroma is strong and the flavor is bold. Even with milk and honey, the tea flavor is never lessened, only enhanced. It is absolutely wonderful and makes me question how Lipton can make tea so flavorless, needing two or even three bags to even come close to one Lyon's bag in terms of strength. As for Lyons vs Barry's, I'm not Irish enough to enter this debate. However, I can give my two cents after trying both.Barry's Tea is darker in color and has a slightly bitter taste. The bitterness persists with milk and honey. This isn't a negative by any means and only seems to enhance the "tea" flavor of the entire brew. It does seem to taste noticeably stronger than Lyons given the same steeping time and amount of milk/honey added.Lyons Tea is a bit softer in color and flavor, and does not have any indication of bitterness at all, yet still has an incredible bold flavor. It is simply better in my opinion only because I prefer a non-bitter tea to a slightly stronger bitter tea.
