The book is great only issue is the one purse on the cover I bought it for is not in the book the pink one. still love the book and am using it it's fun to do. And watch it change to feltLove the patterns! Instructions are very easy to follow, would recommend this book to every knitter I know!Dislike the patterns would not make any not my cup of teaThese patterns are not for the novice knitter nor are they particularly suitable for a knitter's first felting project. I have not made any of these purses but with forty years of knitting experience and after having read through several of the patterns, these purses require a fair amount of detail work and finishing. Also, it may be a problem finding the hardware (purse clips, grommets, etc.) in order to finish the purse. There are some interesting shapes and designs for those knitters who want a bit of a challenge.I was looking for specific bag shapes not so much the actual pattern in the piece. I found some of her resources helpful for purse handles. I can use 5 or 6 of the patterns out of the book. If a book gives me that much help I consider it a success.Instructions were all for knitting. I was looking for crochet. Beautiful pictures. It is a good book regardless.I just recently started making felted bags and had only one pattern, on which I was making modifications already, to get something different. This book not only has lots of great patterns but also has lots of ideas for handles, fasteners, buttons, hooks, etc. etc. that go to make a great bag. It's not in the book, but something else in here even gave me a great idea for a backpack!The book certainly has some ideas in it, but the work instructions are sometimes not so clear and it wojuld help to see a drawing of the shape you are supposed to get out of instructions.At first look I intend making nearly every bag in this book and there are over twenty to choose from. The only thing that may prevent me from achieving this is that the instructions are American which, in some instances, differ from those in the UK. Hopefully, by using the various abbreviations and keys throughout the book and online help, if all else fails, I will be able to follow the instructions because there really are some lovely bags in the book. There is a cosmetic bag, day bags, eveing bags and shoulder bags. A bag for every occasion in fact.The instructions for felting are, I presume, for the usual US top loading washing machines, however, there are various instructions to be found online for felting using a front loading machine.I am full of enthusiasm about this book. I only hope the instructions don't let me down.I bought this book as I was really keen to have a go at making handbags.Looking at the instructions, some of them I didnt understand and others I found rather fiddly.This book maybe is for someone with a little more experience/expertise than I have at the moment.Subsequently this book is on my shelf and I have not attempted any of the projects.was expecting a book about felting and when it arrived, it was a book of knitting patterns that you knit up and hot wash...Some good ideasGreat book and great shape. Lots of choices can not decide what to knit first.
