Product Description

Here's a tea with a distinctive taste...We put it all down to the pine trees, it's the smoke from pinewood that drifts in and out and permeates the tea laid out on bamboo trays. We love it with a biscuit or a piece of cake. But it's really up to you. Just enjoy its smokey flavour and golden colour whenever you feel in that mood.It was in the Qing era that Lapsang Souchong was born. The smoking of delicate tea leaves over pine fires began in the Wuyi Mountains; a small area with very limited supply. Today, this original home is still the unrivalled place to find the best Lapsang Souchong. The process is unique, as is the relationship between our master tasters and each grower, which ensures we still get the best quality and availability.

good tasteNow that my fav Hu-Kwa Lapsang Souchong Tea has lost its zing, I decided to seek elsewhere. Didn't have to look too far. This Twinings Lapsang Souchong Tea packs a punch.I couldn’t drink Lapsang Suchon all the time but do enjoy an occasional smoky cup. This tea from Twinnings offers a nice mellow smoky flavor that really makes for an interesting cup of afternoon teaAll the Twinings from UK like this one are different than US versions. Square bag, no string, finer cut and I believe more tea. True of Assam, Earl Grey, etc. True for this one as well. Makes a stronger cup of tea. If you like the flavor of tea, UK versions are more for you. Lapsang Souchong is a polarizing flavor of tea. Most people in my life hate it, I just love it. Deep black tea flavor mixed with a pungent smoke aroma. Difficult to describe, if you never tasted it, it'll surprise you. For this particular tea, this brand is the best for my tastebuds. I have tried others but prefer Twinings. This also applies to Assam and Earl Grey. No mango, spice, strange herbs and other atrocities. Just flavorful black teas at their best.Zu store shipped my tea the same day I ordered it. This is not to say it was quick shipping it is a long way from England to the US after all. The standard shipping was free though and the tea did arrive on the date estimated. Great shop, I will buy from them again. As for the tea I rate it higher than the Twinnings Lapsang Souchong sold to the US market. It is smokier and has a deeper yet very smooth flavor. Even the longer shipping time can be fun by asking ones neighbors if they have seen a Royal Mail truck around lately and then showing them the Royal Mail stamp on the package after it arrives. This is one of the smokiest flavored Lapsang Souchongs I have had. It is billed as tea bags, but there is no string or tag, so you have to fish it out of your cup; not hard, but this is more like a sachet. It does come wrapped in foil to conserve flavor, but it's only the entire package, the individual bags are not wrapped, so be prepared to store the bags in a plastic Ziploc bag after you open the package-mine tore when opened and it is not resealable. A great value, none-the-less and if brewed 3 minutes by the clock, the smokiness does not overwhelm the flavor of the tea.Takes weeks to get as it comes across the pond. I have been unable to find any Lapsang tea in my town. Love the Smokey flavor.I learned of this tea from a book I was reading. It sounded different and interesting. It does have a very smokey smell and flavor. I like it, but for someone liking a more “traditional” tea, you may not. I like it because it’s not a traditional tea.Years ago I taught a course on Economic Botany. In the labs I had students experience personally what ever was possible (except for hallucinogens). As such, we had coffee and tea tasting in one lab. I came to realize the tea I preferred was Lapsang Souchong tea. Subsequently, I lost the course to a legit Economic Botanist. Then I largely forgot about my tea discovery, or simply could not find it locally if it came to mind. Having tried the Twinings version, it is as if I had found a long-lost friend. It is exactly as I remember it, and thus as excellent. This type of tea is a (for me) the ultimate. This tea tastes smokey, earthy and very comforting. The shipping was fast too. I have already ordered a 2nd box. The box design I received was different from what is pictured but the product inside is the same. This is my new favorite tea. Scotch and campfire lovers will love it.I like this tea. This is exactly what I was looking for. I ordered similar tea of another brand and it did not have much smoky taste like this one. It is my favourite tea but it is not for everyone, very unusual taste. It also arrived very quickly.Anyone who likes smoked meats or fish, or peated Scotch or Irish whiskey, will enjoy this tea. It can even be used to marinate meats overnight before cooking for a great smoky flavour. A unique (and somewhat acquired) taste, but one I love. And of course, if Twinings do not know tea, who does??Was badly damaged in transmission. Luckily teabags did not get damaged
