The day I got these I put a pillow into one of the medium bags (the large size can hold A LOT of stuff) and used my vacuum cleaner to pull the air out. It worked like a charm. No issues with having to hold the tube a certain way or anything, I could move the hose around quite a bit and still maintain a seal. After a month, I couldn't see any difference in the pack...no air seemed to have gotten in at all, so I'm fully confident in using these for long-term storage of things like winter coats.You can also use a "roll up" method for getting air out. It's not as efficient as a vacuum cleaner, but if you're on vacation and want to use these, you can put your stuff in, seal the zipper, then sit on them, roll them up, anything to get the air out and you'll be using a lot less room in your suitcase.Compared to other space-saving bags, these are a good bargain and work as well as anything possibly could.
